    the terrain was probably different back then and maybe they used all the resources that the land had to offer for moving big blocks. Other than that I think they had the technology for chipping rock and making strong ropes. Plus if you owned the land that all the food is on then you have the power to make large things happen with nearly no cost to you directly. pay the people with resources and use what resources you have available to make What ever your little pharohs hearts desire.
