  • Abortion is deadly. It almost always causes the death and/or dismemberment of an innocent human baby. It causes psychological problems for women with a conscience and normal human feeling.
  • guilt and some shame
  • It is different for every woman - no two experiences are ever the same. Some have emotional issues and some do not. Thousands of abortions are carried out each year and the majority of women suffer no physical damage at all - nor does it reduce their chances of future conception. As for the emotional side of it, well it really depends on the woman and her frame of mind. Some will insist it that a woman will suffer emotional torment for the rest of her life but this is simply not the case for everybody. Lots of women feel no guilt about their choice and this is completely natural. Being forced into keeping a child which is unwanted for whatever reason has just as much potential for causing psychological problems as termination does. The media promotes the damage caused to the emotional well being of a woman who has a termination but never ever presents an alternative experience as a counter balance. We only ever hear one side of the story. There are millions of women who have had terminations and it is simply illogical to assume without question, that every single one suffers from psychological problems as a direct result. If this were the case, then we would see the evidence expressed through the behaviour of these women everywhere we looked. The mental health services would be completely inundated with multitudes of emotionally damaged women. As I said, it is a different experience for each woman because it is personal experience. Psychological problems are not, nor have they ever been, a foregone conclusion. And, if such consequences were uniformly experienced by each and every woman to have a termination, you could be forgiven for asking why so many are carried out on a daily basis? If abortion is indeed unsafe and guaranteed to cause psychological problems afterwards, then why do women continue to have them and why are we, as a society, not banning the practice as medically unsafe and dangerous? We outlaw drugs that cause mental health issues so why would we not have done the same with regard to abortion if indeed, it is such a dangerous practice?
