  • That's a rather vague question. What are the specifics?
  • As a Christian, I choose God's word. "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." Colossians 2:8 KJV
  • I always go with what God’s Word the Bible teaches. I was raised Catholic. That church is known for its traditions. I began reading the Bible and had great difficulty reconciling the traditions of the church with the Bible. I chose the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word. Religion is man’s idea, or his perception of what he thinks God’s will is.
  • I choose the bible of course. Sola Scriptora
  • Bible teachings. Church traditions although sometimes based off of bible teachings, are also influenced by individual interpretations. And over multiple years meaning (as well as multitudes of other things) of traditions changes. Make sure your not doing a tradition just for the sake of doing it.
  • Same as the majority have already answered. The Bible first and foremost. Luckily the church that I attend (a First United Methodist) follows the Bible very closely. It's probably why we have grown, almost tripled in membership, in the last four years. Yet no matter how big it gets it still has that small church feel to it. Those who go (at least the majority that I know) are true Christians and truly follow the word of God. Great question, hope this helps your inquiry. In His grasp, <:))))<>< My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.--Psalm 62:7
  • I choose the Bible, of course! However, sometimes I think your question is not the bible or tradition rather than how different denominations interpret the scriptures. Baptism: "sprinkling" or immersion? Communion: Just a symbol or more? Open or closed? Confession and Forgiveness: Only one on one, only corporate, or both? See. . .
  • Did you know that celibacy of the clergy is not found in the Bible. Peter the follower of Jesus had a wife according to the scriptures. So priests, go out and get married and then you won't feel the need to molest little boys, you will have your sexual urges met by your wives.
  • Clearly, the Bible is the source of truth. Traditions are manmade and faulty. They are a great source of heartache, confusion and strife. Professed Christians sticking to tradition are a major reason outsiders discredit Christianity and also the Bible. Many people assume that church traditions are from the Bible (where else could they come from?) and see how unreasonable and contradictory they are. Bible teachings, free of human doctrine, are pure and trustworthy. Both Jesus and the apostles condemned those who establish their own teachings apart from Scripture.
  • as a christian, i will always choose what the bible says! it is sad that what most of christendom teaches stems from traditions and not what the bible teaches. jesus christ said: "you hypocrites, isaiah aptly prophesied about you, when he said, "this people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is in vain that they keep worshipping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines." (matthew 15:7-9)
  • I choose the Bible over any church traditions. Many of the mainline denominations have strayed away from real Bible preaching, teaching and living. Apathy has set in at an alarming rate. It seems that the pomp, ceremony, man-made doctrines, creeds and laws are shoving the Bible right out the door. I realize that no church is perfect but there just aren't many churches today that operate on Biblical principles anymore. Apathy has struck the churches and apostasy is right on it's heels.
