why do some people ask a question that has been asked many times before & fail to put it into the correct category?
-
Well, you've already actually stated in your question the main reason why....cowards! Seems like they didn't like you questioning them, either. +6

Because some cannot discern the difference between a truly "unhelpful" question/answer [which might get a DR] and a DIFFERENCE of OPINION. DRing a DIFFERENCE OF OPINION is abuse of the DR button, pure and simple.
-
That is a really good question and it totally pisses me off also! I guess they have nothing better to do with their time than hurt or pick on other people.

I sometimes d/r without saying why, and I am not a coward. The reason in my case is either the question is stupid, racist or otherwise unpleasant. Evidently so. In other cases the reason I don't always say why is that often when I do the person who I am downrating just comes back with stupid insults.

Well, if you downrate somebody and tell them it was you, and give a reason, in most chances, the person is gonna go psycho on your ass, downrate YOU, or get all their little AB friends to help em out. I don't blame people for not doing it, because essentially, they would be treated like shit by most folks, whether they respected the rating guidelines or not.
