I saw a lady in a truck at the store this summer with a Rot and a Yorkie! I spoke to her about the huge difference in size and she said the Rottweiler is so very gentle with the Yorkie! A BIG BROTHER to her! It was cool to see. She let them out of the truck for me to see them bounce around a minute or two. So there is an example that is does work. But I'd be nervous too. Good Luck Bangin!!! +5

I once had both a German Shepherd and a Beagle and they were great friends. The shepherd was very protective of the "little'un" though the beagle was actually older.

Larger sized dogs tend not to feel threatened by smaller animals, and as a result are usually very gentle with them (provided that they don't consider the smaller animal as food). For this reason, larger dogs also tend to be good with children. +4

It just depends on the individual personalities and tolerance levels of each dog. Just closely supervise them and watch for any issues.

We have a chihuahua, a husky mix, and a pyrenees mix who all get along well. The big ones are always careful not to play rough with the smaller one (as much as she would like to), and we've never had problems. The only worry is the little one getting stepped on.

I don't see why not. You would have to carefully "test it out" at first though. I've seen big dogs hanging out with small ones. My dog is 1/2 Rottweiler 1/2 Lab and use to bring this little dachshund home with her to play sometimes. They got along well.
