Why is it that some people have less manners when watching a movie at the theater than they do when watching a movie at home?

As any psychologists will tell you, this is just an example of how our environment affects our behavior. For example: some drinkers will be the life of the party when in a social setting, but if they drink at home, or alone they could be described as depressed rather than lively.

The problem is some people don't realise there is such a thing as social etiquette, so they just behave as if they were at home instead of in the middle of a huge silent theatre. That's why they shout out things like, "Oh, this is the bit I was telling you about where..." during the middle of the film. Idiots.

They probably act that way at home also! And sometimes, they can be more irritating when they have a larger audience, as in the theater.

People care more about themselves and their small little part of the world than they do about what/who is outside. They save the best for "home" and give the worst to "the other". They destroy property belonging to others without remorse. That is just how some people are. :(

Because they care about the comfort of the people they live with, and don't care about that of strangers I guess.

Maybe they feel they have the right to since they paid money to see the movie.
