    decimals refers to "tenths"

    .6 =6/10 : divide both numerator (top) and denominator (bottom) by 2 gets 3/5 (3 and 5 don't have common factors, so this is most simple)

    mixed number = 3 3/5

    3 = 3/1: multiply top and bottom each by 5 = 15/5

    add 15/5 + 3/5 (add numerators, keep denominator) = 18/5
