    As a nurse, I've not heard of physical addiction to Diphenhydramine. It is very possible to become physically addicted to medications that are commonly combined with Diphenhydramine (such as alcohol or codeine). What you probably have is a high tolerance to Diphenhydramine that you acquired by over-using this drug. It is possible to become emotionally or mentally addicted to pretty much anything though. Probably what you are "addicted" to is the sedative effect of the drug, and you need to find out why you are sedating yourself to deal with life. Over-use of any drug can be extremely dangerous. You need to talk with your doctor about your problem ASAP. Good luck.
