What is the rationale for negative points on a question when compared to double digit positive points for an answer to that question. How can an answer be so useful on such a frivolous question? Is AB a popularity poll?

Sometimes. But it would depend on the question. Many times questions are provocative, in and of themselves. Some people will DR the question without answering, or even looking at the answers. Almost anything having to do with religion, politics, sexual orientation, race, etc., are like that. Then again, there are times the answer is either funny or covers exactly what others would have said, if they hadn't read it, so they point the answer. Of course, many of those answers will be DRed, but have so many uprates that it's almost impossible to see them. And, yes. There are certain people on AB who tend to "draw" points to themselves, simply because people like them. Oh, and the number of friends one has who use the friends list of Q&As might have something to do with it, too. ;-)
