Help answer this question below.
Well for one.. 1/2 gallon or smaller is not large enough for two fish. In my world, short of a Beta or Guppy it isn't big enough for one fish.
The water should have been in the tank ahead of time and filtered for a bit. When you brought the fish home, the water from the bag they were in should have been added, after it was rested in the tank water to come to the same temperature without shocking the fish.
I would go into a pet store and ask for something to condition the water.
Goldfish need 20+ gallon plus to feel comfortable so you could buy a 20+ plus tank for the current goldfish and buy one or 2 more
Tap water needs treating to remove the chlorine, which is poisonous to fish.
Goldfish lying at the bottom of the tank? Help please!?

My goldfish is developing black line on tail n fin. It swims weird and is most of the time at the surface(not 4 air) throws out all the food

My goldfish has his side fins clamped to his side and he just lays on the bottom of the tank then everynow and then shoots to the top and

I have to bring 30 feeder fish to school and i was wondering if it would be ok to keep them in the bag they come in overnight?

You're reading Got 2 goldfish for my son. what temp should i keep the water and what kind of water, tap or spring???have it in a little plastic tank about 1/2 gallon or little smaller. one died last night and dont know what to do to keep the other alive.
