What keeps people from using sound logic, emotions; going off what one feels is right apart from anything else, or ignorance; just not understanding how logical logic is or how it works?

Love your name btw. Ever just knew something you didn't know why? Gut feeling? We all have them, they stand in the face of logic and for good reason. Something we don't consiously pin-point tells us what our eyes see isn't all that is there. That's the reason you don't pick up the otherwise nice looking man asking for a ride, or go out with that cute chick...but then find out she's mental/emotionally damaged goods and he was that rapist/killer. We contain multitudes; why listen to only one signal?
