Anything that goes in will get read by the drill sergeant first.

Unless you have been tagged by CID for an investigation and they have obtained a warrant allowing them to open your mail, no one in the military has the authority to open your mail and read it. You can write anything you like. A spouse can even send nekkid pictures of themselves, but if the trainee gets caught with the nekkid pix, he gets an Article 15 for disobeying a direct order of an NCO. Trainees are told they are not allowed to possess pornography when they are inprocessed.

i doubt there are any restrictions to letters, packages maybe but letters no.
