  • cooler to watch would be the smashing instrument by far. cooler for them to do would be to donate it. honestly, i would rather see the smashing of instruments
  • actually a little of one, smash old crapppy guitars. and alot of the other, giving money for band instruments. Better still all bands should donate one day of drug money to local school bands, should make millions.
  • wouldn't it be wonderful to live in a world where the affluent gave willingly to the needy...where celebrities used the privileges they had to nurture the talent of the upcoming...where film stars refused great wages, instead instructing that most of their salaries go to the easing of the lot of the afflicted....(I really must stop sniffing the liquid paper....) Seriously, your son's idea is WONDERFUL. Tell him to hold onto that thought...
  • If it is a radical concert, stopping the show for a public service announcement seems out of character. A sensible idea, however. I've often thought they weren't smashing their $5,000 Strats or Gibsons, but some old worn out guitar that had seen it's last performance. Perhaps this is how rockers "retire" their old equipment!
  • Your son is the coolest part of your question.
  • they could pay for several instruments to donate with the money from the extra tickets they sell to people who are only interested in seeing things get smashed on stage
  • smashing em is def. cooler.
  • Smash it up smash it up
  • It's a good idea. I think that they should go farther and donate enough instruments for the school to have a marching band, a jazz or swing band, a modern music band, and a symphany orchesrta.
  • I'd say donating to a local school in need of band equipment. There are many kids/students out there who have nowhere else to express themselves musically, and they need that element in their life. Music has played such a huge role in my life... I don't know where I'd be without it. And frankly, more people need to have that option there for them.
  • i say smashing the instrument is cool for the show. then auction the broken instrument and use the proceeds to donate to a school. but yeah smashing the instrument is cool it adds to the excitment of the show
  • I was at a metallica gig recently and they did exactly that in their encore. They acted like they were going to smash the guitars and drum kits but then said "instead of this we will dontate 1000 dollars to the NSPCC" they got a huge cheer for it and were forced to do a second encore! Respect for them for doing so!
  • The 2nd one, by far. your son- is a genius.
