  • Of course it's Bush's fault. Don't you see it Payton, Bush and everything related to him is evil...every molecule of oxygen he breathes in is one molecule closer to our ultimate destruction. . I like oxygen. I like breathing fast too, get lots of oxygen at the same time. yummy yummy oxygen.
  • With the new administration, EVERYTHING that goes poorly, costs too much, gets screwed up or that they simply do not agree with is because it's RACIST. B'HO is perfect so what else could it be but that people don't like him simply because of the color of his 1/2 Black - 1/2 White skin?
  • The U.S. has had the Olympics a bunch of times since the 1980s. That probably doesn't help.
  • Neither. If the IOC were racist (anti-black it would have to be in this case) Rio de Janeiro would not be out in front, and wouldn't be in the running. . And it's not George Bush's fault, either. His Administration provided a great deal of support for Chicago's bid. . Chicago got voted out in the first round because the only thing that united all of the other delegates was their worry about the buzz that Chicago was out in front. . And Rio proposed three times the budget that Chicago did. Money does matter.
  • Neither one. It's always about the money. Follow the money......
  • The bad taste the world in general has about America right now is largely Bush's fault and that might have been on their minds, but I don't think it was a major factor. Obama's presence was a positive influence but I believe they want to go with someplace new.
  • Why do the IOC persist with this 4 year, self gratifying, extravagant binge? This is the 21st Century. Most people watch on TV; the Internet; and listen on radio - even if they live close to the games. The Olympics needs either: A permanent home in Athens or A permanent Olympic city in each continent and then rotate the games.
  • Of course, anything that doesn't go right for President Obama is someone else's fault. When Afghanistan falls because he sat on his hands instead of making a decision, McChrystal and Bush will be his fall guys. Conversely, he will take credit for anything that goes right, whether he had anything to do with it or not. He is a consumate politician, hope and change my ass, more like smoke and mirrors.
  • I don't think race has anything to do with it. I agree that Chicago should have been cut from the running. We just had the Olympics in frickin' ATLANTA. When we're scraping the bottom of the barrel of American cities to host Olympic games, it's time to give someone else a shot. I HOPE the Olympics go to Rio. South America deserves a shot - and Rio will have an awesome turnout. If they can get over 1/4 of a million people at an Iron Maiden concert, imagine the possibilities for the Olympics!
  • I'm American and I don't even want the Olympic Games in Chicago. It's a cesspool. The video of that kid in Chicago being beaten to death by other little kids and everyone standing around with their hands in their pockets probably didn't help their cause a whole lot either.
  • Hmmmm maybe Obamma isnt the messiah after all. and just maybe Oprah isnt as influential as she thinks she is.
  • Hi Payton .. the anti-Bush'ers would like to make it his fault. I would not be surprised a bit hon. I am not sure what made IOC reject Chicago. But I read that Obama was not terribly popular person in the world and therefore he failed to promote his city. Look into this thread started by my question on the same subject: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1732408 I liked how the guys responded. Everybody has a good point of his own. ;-) 5+ to you.
  • I think its GWB's fault you even had to ask this question! LOL
  • Racist? For what? Not choosing Chicago? You got a lot of Olympic Games: St. Louis (1904), Los Angeles and Lake Placid (1932), Squaw Valley (1960), Lake Placid (1980), Los Angeles (1984), Atlanta (1996) and Salt Lake City. For a result of 8/52 Olympic Games, 15% of times on American Soil. Number of times in the entire South American soil, Zero! I think that's their time now! ;P Bush? I don't like him but I don't see how he could be involved in the Olympic Committee decision..
