Man I have been caught in this situation so many times
Its hard to get into their lives, but what always seemed to work is talking to people around them in one of these to ways
1) Literally talk around them let them see you and notice you if they like you they'll say something to you or maybe you'll catch them listening in or laughing if you're funny and can comment on it further, and make conversation with them
Or
2). Talk to their friends around them and let them tell them you like them maybe they won't be shy and will come up to you and say what's up
Which will make it time to take the leap and swallow your shyness and just go for it, and let them know you're a cool person
