What would you do if you went out to dinner with a couple you hardly knew and when the check came ,they automatically said "You guys get it this time & we'll get it next time.

Oh my goodness! How amazingly rude! I would be quite taken aback, but I am also such a push over that I would act like it was not a problem and agree.

Secretly, I would be waiting for my S/O to object to it. He's good like that and more than makes up for my weakness! Often when people want to divide the bill, for example, I just smile and give him a discreet look meaning *stick up for me and let everyone pay their own share* =)

Wow! Good for you! I'd have to say "No way!" too. That would take a lot of nerve for someone to suggest I pay.

I'm glad you had the guts to say it, really. I would have really laughed if you had said, "No, you all are buying this time, I'll buy next time." But you did so good.

I had a boss who would invite the office out to lunch. He drank his lunch and then said we would all divide the check. My $6 lunch became $20. Being my boss, I had to think of excuses every time he made the invitation. +5
