It drives me "nuts" when someone says "axe" instead of ask.
No it doesn't. He is correct.
How about "Which witch wears white when whaling?"
Another that gets my attention is "whoa" vs "woe." Believe me, your pony can hear the difference.
It annoys me when some people say I am going to catch the buzz(bus) and Buzz Station.
"Cool wHip" ... just watch the clip below, you will see. This is freakin hilarious. The cool whip starts around 40 seconds in or something.
I'll be damned, the H is silent.
thats annoying and funny to me.
It might be a regional pronunciation. In parts of the U.S. people say PO-lice, UPholst'ry, INsurance. No big thing.
Actually, that's correct, but I can see it being annoying if he stresses the last syllable, rather than the first.
No it doesn't because that's how I pronounce it and that's how it's suppose to be pronounced.
yeah it is correct, you should pronounce the H..it shouldn't be stressed more than the S but it should not be silent.
Now for some bad examples, I have heard people say
Compruter instead of computer
alumium instead of aluminum
bayg instead of bag
several examples; pogram, instead of program ( big diffrerence ), waRsh, there is no R in wash! When people say "ight", instead of alright...
