  • Little Women, and the Anne of Green Gables series come to mind for me. These books don't have the mother/daughter role as a central theme, but it is there, and a lot can be mined from them. Of course there's plenty to explore in the way of relationships, forgiveness, bearing of other people's burdens, and of course, family in general.
