I would say it depends on the seriousness of the real or perceived transgression you have committed.

you can be fired at anytime but most companies have a process of verbal then written warnings before the ax falls. +5

Generally speaking they do not have to give a warning. A lot of companies are nice enough to do so, but if they have a legitimate reason for firing they can normally do so, warning or not.
