Have you ever noticed that they don't drink in TV commercials for alcoholic beverages? (This is only true in the United States,they tell me.)

I noticed that when I moved to Vietnam. You don't really notice them NOT doing it until you see them doing it. And here in the Philippines, when they show the feminine hygiene ads, the women wear white pants and they focus in on the crotch area. It was really noticeable.

FCC rules say you can't show someone actually drinking an alcoholic beverage in a commercial. So you see commercials with lots of pouring, holding up glasses to make a toast, glasses being held close to the lips, etc. -- but never the implication of literal drinking. P.S. I thought I was the only one who remember Bucky Beaver. Very cool!
