  • The homeworld of Caprica has been taken over by the cylons, originally created by humans as robot servants, but having quickly evolved into a frightening enemy. In the recent series, they have copied humans, so that it is almost impossible to distunguish them from a real human. Some do not even know they are cylons until activated. The human population of Caprica has got aboard enormous transport ships, protected by the Battlestars (including Galactica) and is trying to find Earth, where some of their people went centuries ago. But the cylons are behind them and in front of them, and have even infiltrated the transports. The leading scientist aboard Galactica has a cylon lover inside his head, and he is being used to betray his own kind. He is the one responsible for building a device that can tell a cylon replica, but already he has ignored two positive readings. The theology of Galactica is a strange mix of ancient Greek, hebrew and a few other things thrown in, but the storyline is good, the acting superb, and the special effects wonderful. recommended.
  • Its the sci-fi jour, and the best show on TV at the moment... worth a look, because although its a sci-fi show, it isn't really. ??Its more of a drama set in space
  • Go get the first couple of seasons on DVD. You won't be sorry. My wife hates science fiction, and I got her hooked on this because it's about ordinary people being forced into extraordinary circumstances...and it doesn't hurt that the special effects are off the charts. The thing that I really love is how "antiquated" everything is on the ship. The phones all have cords. All the doors are heavy manual bulkheads. Great show!
  • Singwell's answer gets you through the first three seasons. At the end of Season three, the fleet found a habitable planet. The scientist with the Cylon lover in his head, Baltar, was elected President on a platform of abandoning the search for Earth and settling on this planet. Not long after they settled on the planet the Cylons discovered them and arrived with a fleet that was too powerful for the Battlestars to fight so they had to retreat leaving the settlers undefended. When the Battlestars returned to rescue the settlers, one was lost leaving them with only the Galactica. Baltar went off with the Cylons for a time but was then captured by soldiers from the Galactica. Right now, Baltar is on trial for crimes committed while he was president under the Cylons on the ill-fated colony.
