Sometimes, my computer mouse pointer moves forward after I stop moving it. I have a wireless mouse. Could it be that the wireless mouse is malfunctioning, or an undetectable virus?

I doubt that it is a virus,You don't say whether your mouse just moves a small amount or a huge amount.
Try moving you mouse receiver nearer the mouse, changing the batteries in the mouse, try re-installing any software that came with the mouse, try a hard wired mouse to see if it does the same.
If after you have tried all of the above and it is still jumping then it is safe to assume your mouse is at fault.+3
