There are some specific points where the compromises have lead to issues. the second amendment is one in my eyes. the right to bear arms in the US is strongly compromised by the fact that due to the availability of firearms, criminals actually have and use them more than private law abiding citizens. and to that point, it is also used as a "soapbox" for any and all groups that want to make a statement. they will claim that the second amendment rights are threatened, and switch over to what is the real agenda. When Obama was elected, the NRA played the second amendment card, and drove the price of guns up, the main players in the controversy were the gun manufacturers, who made windfall profits. compromise for the sake of profits
