You won't get an answer because they simply don't have one. These things weren't understood when the bible was written and just aren't in it. It's the same as asking why god doesn't heal amputees.

It's cause Jesus is a dick, and he loves watching people suffer. He considers it "tough love".

Probably some holdover from angels mating with humans, which God supposedly wiped out that bloodline with the flood.

I am assuming (correct me if I am wrong) that you wish for someone who believes in a Deity (as I do) to explain why Gawd allows deformed people to be born, or to exist. First, Gawd doesn't really "allow" bad things to happen. WE DO. We allow these kinds of things to happen, because we haven't come up (yet) with adequate ways to PREVENT them from occurring. Gawd (supposedly) created the first humans on Earth (how s/he did that, remains a mystery to this day) and from that moment on, the first humans replicated themselves, and the responsibility for the way humans turned out beyond that point, was solely ours. What I am saying, in very simple terms (so *I* can understand them), is that Gawd created "the ball," then started it rolling. Human beings are responsible to "keep the ball rolling" and control in which direction (and how fast) it rolls. Gawd's job was done, once creation was accomplished, and now, s/he is just sitting back, relaxing, and watching our lives unfold before him (or her). My own religious view (admittedly shared by no one else in AB, I'm sure), is that Gawd is "a non-interfering observer," and watches us and all of our lives, the same way that your Aunt Tillie would watch an episode of that moronic soap opera, "AS THE WORLD TURNS." When Aunt Tillie watches it, does she do anything at all to influence the characters or "make script changes" in any way? No, she just watches and listens, doing nothing at all to change the outcome of what she is watching. Gawd does essentially the same thing. S/he (gender not specified) watches the lives of all of us unfolding, but doesn't do anything, other than watch and listen. A Gawd who will not lift one "celelstial finger" to prevent the burning alive of six million Jews in Hitler's ovens, will also not do anything to prevent a fetus from being born as a deformed baby. I'm not "big" enough (in the eyes of Gawd) to question the motives of Gawd. I am "big enough," however, to accept those things that I cannot understand, and over which I have no power to affect meaningful or significant change. I hope I have given you SOME kind of an explanation, even if it is not the one you were hoping to read. +5

Goodness, why would someone flag it? I asked the same question many times. My father was a preacher and my mother has a degree in theology. Different faiths will have different reasons, but it all boils down to free will. Think about it like the Jedi. There is the dark side, and the light side, right? The light side runs around telling the dark side that it's bad, that it shouldn't cause so much suffering in the world. The dark side says if people just weren't so weak, there wouldn't be suffering (I'm paraphrasing). The answer in my head, lies somewhere in the middle. If we never had to deal with suffering, strife, famine, disease, heartache and pain... we would be weak. Conversely, if we deal with too much, it's more than we can handle. We *need* the hardships in our life. Without them, we can't recognize the good things.

The world is tainted with the stain of sin; it sucks, but it is the truth. Diseases of the body, diseases of the mind are all a result of original sin. Don't even pretend to understand it all, but there it is. We are dying the moment we are born, with our without a deformity.
