  • Check to see if the car is equipped w/ a neutral starting switch.If it is the switch is faulty or out of adjustment
  • There is a plastic or bakelite inline fuse holder (111-937-091-A)in line in a wire that runs around the right side of the engine shroud (black wire) that is supposed to be attached to terminal 15 (ignition voltage) on the coil. It sounds like it has been connected to terminal 1 (point wire from condensor) on the ignition coil. So what happens is that when you put it in reverse the backup light switch feedsback ground from the BU bulbs and shorts out the ignition signal. Remove the fuse from the fuseholder and if the prolem stops that is your problem. Be very careful with terminal 15 on the coil, it is not fused!!! Not fun if you start a fire.
