- Yes, I live in Christchurch in the Eastern suburbs which was hit hard. Luckily we were in a patch that was not to bad. We have power and water back although we have to boil our water. And we can finally use the toilet! Which is a relief. One of my brothers lives just over the river from me and it looks like his house will be demolished.

- So sorry to hear that about your brother but glad you're all okay. I visited the North Island years ago but somehow managed to miss the beautiful South Island. Just wish we could move closer together. That flight is hell!!;)

- Laughs, I have never been to the North Island. Yes, we were lucky, there were many people who narrowly escaped being seriously hurt or killed.

When we die we remain 'asleep' [ without consciousness] in death until we are resurrected...
(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

(Revelation 20:12-13) And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Ha′des gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds.

Their 'deeds' are not what they did wrong when alive, because those things are PAID FULLY for by their death...
(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.
Their 'deeds' are their decision, once resurrected, whether or not to comply with the rules of God's new KINGDOM. With Jesus appointed as King.

Absolutely, as the molecules of my body go on to feed worms, bugs, bacteria, fungii and plants. Eventually, they will become parts of animals, and even people. Its reassuring to know that even though I may die, all is not lost.

- because of my religion. but if your into science and all that than there still is an explanation. every living organism has energy, and that energy is imprinted into space, time, ect... until it's death. now normally you would think that energy just disappears right? well energy cannot be created or destroyed so it "has to go somewhere". that energy is imprinted into other forms, but still existing. thus explaining ghosts if you believe in that also. the energy is an imprint of the past life and actions of the living organism, so that energy may be conscious and may have the ability to reason. the energy stays together in one mass and is still "existing", but just as and imprint.

- good for you. i really dont care what you think about me because i don't spend my life on the internet all day like you. i have a life and i live it. and what you just said illustrates that you have no comeback to what i just said because you know i'm right. I'm not talking about religion anymore kid, i'm talking about science and it's a law so it does exist and is in affect right now. moongrim your school yard insults have no effect anymore because your a child, nothing more than a child who hates being wrong and will twist and warp any normal conversation or debate into siding with you.

- Papito, you need to report that to AB, they don't like that kind of behavior on the site, they can track him down and if guilty probably send him to the penalty box for a while, they usually decide what to do and how to handle it though. They will help you. Good luck!

I believe in the contiuned existence of some aspect of our selves after the death of our bodies. In this universe of ours, nothing ever truly goes away, so why should the essence of who we are ( our memories and consciousness, what some call a soul ) simply "go away" or disappear?

Nothing that happens in your brain is not at its basis a chemical reaction, and when the reactions stop your existence stops as well.

Not in the sense that many do. I don't really believe we have souls. Our matter is reused in other plants, animals and humans. In a sense, we live on forever.

2) loss of life

It sort of follows that where death is, life isnt anymore.

I believe we continue to live on after death yes.. but in what other form I am unsure. I like to believe since matter can neither be created nor destroyed our "soul" or energy for that matter just transforms into something else. But that's what I believe.
