bc odds are you are reading it from a version using archaic language that is almost 400 years old now ... if you really want to understand it, go to a local christian bookstore and ask for a modern day translation or just go to walmart and buy an NIV (new internation version)

I don't think it can be....It's written to be interpreted and implemented into your everyday life...I think you can take it however you like.

It's difficult to understand something you've never read.

Some is old english. But mostly because people don't read it. They read a verse here and there. But not the whole thing to get it into context and see how it intertwines with the rest of the Bible.
-
Because it is used as scripture by several major religions, which means that a large percentage of the world's population actually believe it.

Because of its very own nature.

LOTS and LOTS of antiquated words!

Because it was written so very vaguely, and many concepts were culturally specific. And then; WHICH Bible are you referring to? Because many many books have been left out, in today's versions. http://www.thelostbooks.com/

because there is no lable on the cover that says "fiction" .

We don't live back in the times when those wordings were popular. Therefore they confuse the crap out of us today. I can't read more than a page of the Bible before I go cross eyed. lol

this is why ; the bible contradictions; http://www.evilbible.com/Biblical%20Contradictions.htm

Because it was written in ancient languages by ancient peoples with a different way of thinking and radically different categories of thought than we have today. (e.g., their idea of suspense is to give you a geneology with 6 names in it: you're suppose to realize that it's one generation short from fulfillment and 4 short of completion.) Consequently, the Bible can't just be read: it must be studied - for decades - along with the languages and cultures that produced it, and a good bit of literary criticism/analysis thrown in. Even then, according to the Rabbis, every passage can be read at 22 different levels.
