Well it is possible that you've never had a virus. What I would do is download another, free virus checker from the internet. Many free programs are trial versions that will identify any threats for free but you have to pay to buy the full program in order to remove any malware. Since you simply are finding out how good Bitdefender is working, if your system is virus free according to the second program, this would indicate your system is being kept quite secure. If on the other hand it turns out you have a couple of viruses, perhaps bitdefender needs updating against newer threats. If your computer has 35 different threats, it's a good indicator that Bitdefender is, to be blunt, crap. Try this address http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If you don't trust your installed program, you can always try an online scan, such as Panda. Just be aware that online scanners sometimes give false alarms, indicating installed antivirus as an infection (because of the patterns on their files). More importantly, make sure your program is getting its regular updates and that the occasional scan is scheduled to take place.

I have BitDefender too. Is it that it never finds viruses etc....or that it just doesn't report any when it does? Good question, by the way.

Please don't be insulted by my question, because there are a lot of folks who don't know any better. But is your anti-virus program actually set to 'scan' all of your files on a regular basis? Are you basing the lack of viruses on the reported results of a complete scan? Also, are you sure you are getting all the latest anti-virus program's updates? If the program is finding nothing as a result of a scan, this is a good thing. It means your system is clean. I practise safe computing and I have not been infected in a long time.
