  • What good will that do? Maybe if they focused on real public transport that could replace millions of cars then people wouldn't have to waste as much oil and increase green house gasses. Just look across the US. Where is the public transport alternative? But that's not good for car and oil companies, so there's no political support. Maybe the people want it, but its not on the agenda. That would make a tremendous difference. After all, the US use about 1/3 of world's resourcs, and as for oil, only Chinacomes in 2nd place. • Oh yeah. Now there is a bright idea. In a time in which our economy is struggling, lets raise the prices of everything. A carbon tax is a tax on energy usage. Everything that we buy requires energy to produce and transport to the market. So, not only would we see an increase in our own energy bills as a result of a carbon tax, but we would see the price of everything else go up as well. This is the last thing that we need right now.
  • Definitely not. We already pay for the fuel we burn when we buy it, why should we pay for burning it as well? Gas-guzzlers are already their own punishment.
  • No. However, we should start building the maximum number of nuclear power plants we have the resources to undertake. The goal should be to double our consumption, not to half it.
  • First we have to focus on green energy provide carbon-less productions THEN put tax on carbon emissions
