Academia has always been way liberal. That's not a bad thing. Nobody would ever learn anything if there were no alternate perspectives. I think that academia forgets that there are other options. Some of the terrorists have gone to jail but not until they've started breaking things or hurting people. Up to that point they're entitled to their opinion;past that point they need to be locked up.

A lot of respected people were once associated with groups like The Weathermen & The Students for a Democratic Society. The Vietnam war & Nixon gave them reasons to protest and band together. It's been a long time since Bill Ayers wrote Prarie Fire. He's not the same and I'm sure his students are richer for his presence there.

Just like persons like Hussein Obama having close ties to the unrepentant terrorists become a president of the United States. I completely agree with @tominhouston about "Academia has always been way liberal.. " They can be college professors until they cross the line. But, .. sometimes even crossing the line they do not get locked up. That is beyond my comprehension. In my opinion what William Ayers has done he deserves to be locked up. He did crossed the line by preparing a terrorist attack. 6+

Good question. The jails are full (way too full) of those guilty of far less than direct terrorist actions against the United States Of America. It really makes one wonder, doesn't it? What really should make one wonder even more is that the current Prsident of the United States Of America's political career was kicked off in the home of this terrorist. If it doesn't make you wonder then you are braindead.

How does an unrepentant murderer who is driving drunk, go off a bridge into the river, go home to sleep it off, then remember around noon the next day, "OOPS, I left my girlfriend in the car I better call my lawyer" become a respected United States senator? How does an unrepentant child molester who drugs and anally rapes a 13 year old girl become a respected movie directer defended by the Hollywood elite? Answer, money has it's privileges.
