Choose who best defended their point of view in the programme - this is a better way. its - is used for a living thing other than a human. it's better to use 'their' in this case, and where the gender is not known. the sentence structure is more readable the way i wrote it too.

The sentence is wrong unless an 'it' had a point of view. Guess 'it' could refer to a machine with intelligence which had a point of view that was being defended by more than one person during a program, that would make it correct.
