Why do we use the "brand" adjective when we describe something new? New and "brand-new," what's the difference?

    I do not believe that there is any difference unless Brand new means it is still ticketed with brand name showing.

    I never thought there was any difference at all, between the two expressions, but the dictionary has a definition, believe it or not:

    I still don't see any real difference, do you?
