  • The society itself's non chalent attitude to it and their inability to look in the mirror and realize that the person that is the cause of 90% of their problems is the person they are looking at. This society sits here with 50% divorce rates, more and more children born out of wedlock with deadbeats for dads and many not even knowing their real father. Women living with their boyfriends and then being kicked to the curb once he gets bored with them. People constantly using eachother. Incredible amounts of violence and death. And that which causes all of these things is condoned wholesale. And then these people have the nerve to tell me that I am a fanatic because I avoid the causes of these things even though that doesn't mean I won't be the victim of some anyways.
  • Being in law enforcement, a person can lose their religion in a heartbeat. to see a small child raped and killed, suicide, fatality auto accident, homocides, all take a toll on an officers religion. Its a tough occupation, but we all seem to make it.
  • Antisemitism.
  • I'm Zen Buddhist. I don't find it difficult, however there are some things which annoy me on occasion: - Widespread misconceptions and ignorance about Buddhism mean that most of the conversations I have with others are pretty basic -- I spend my time providing basic information or debunking common myths. This is understandable, because Buddhism is relatively new in the West, but it does become tedious sometimes. I once had a conversation with a Christian who said "why worship a dead God when you can worship a live one?" (Buddhism doesn't promote the worship any God, actually) - I get nervous when I see the way that Zen is used in marketing products, etc... e.g. there's nothing "sexy" about Zen that it should be used in product names, to advertise cars, or as some sort of hip-chic symbol. Zen is nothing like that: it's hard work, and mostly fairly boring. To misuse Zen in that way is disrespectful and shows a lack of understanding. I'm pretty sure if Jesus' image were used to market cars, the Christians would be upset. Well, in Buddhism we don't throw our hands up and shout about being misunderstood, but it's still a concern. - The relative newness of Buddhism means that there isn't a lot of choices for most people with regard to teachers and practice centers. I have to drive 20 miles to the nearest center... along the way, I'm passing probably 300+ churches. This is inconvenient, although I really like my center.
  • Temptation and doubt.
  • After spending most of my life in front of a TV set, spending an hour staring at a blank wall is just that much more difficult.
  • I know that God is with me wherever I go and do, so there is nothing hard about my religion. There have been many, many disciples who have been persecuted a lot more than what can be thrown to me today. The Bible says that all Christains will be persecuted, so I am prepared for anything the non-believers throw at me. Like I said-God has me body and soul, there is nothing another human can do to hurt me as long as I stay in His good graces. I don't plan on going anywhere without Him. Great question. God Bless, <:))))<><
  • I'm non-religious. It's not hard. It is, however, annoying that so many people equate "non-religious" with "non-spiritual", because I am quite spiritual.
