  • find a job and appartment in florida asap
  • Be aware once you surrender custody of your children, even to a relative who promises to return them to your care, it can be very difficult if not impossible to get your children back. In most part of the country calling 211 will put you in touch with folks on the phone who can help you locate assistance. Please make sure you speak to an attorney (yours not hers) as well as exhausting every possibility before surrendering your children. Call 211, visit your county social services office, the salvation army...and ask for help.
  • Don't sign over custody. If your sister wants to help she can without you signing over custody. Courts do not look favorably upon parents who do this. Don't think you can get your kids back just because you decide you are ready. The Court will have to be convinced at that time that the kids will be better off with you than with your sister. Talk to an attorney before you do anything like this. Your sister can help you guys without demanding guardianship. It's fishy.
  • i might do a living will just in case but no you never sign custody over +5
  • Give second thoughts about moving back to Florida. Jobs are scarce. Investigate familial laws. What benefits does Florida have over Mass? The grass always looks greener.
  • I am from mass as well and I know that it has a lot of free services for people in situations like this. But on the other hand, once DSS gets involved they are very difficult o get out of your life. (I have friends that have been working for a long time to get their kids back, I don't have kids) I"m not sure what city you are from but if you tell me I will be happy to do my best to find some agencies in your are for you. What ever you do though don't sign custody over before talking to a lawyer.
  • if you believe that you can take care of your kids then if anything ask the kids opinion but remember to always say first that it is there choice but if you can not afford mentally or financially then yes they should go especially if it is only for three months but I would only give temporary custody
