To get onto the university course you will probably need: Biology 'A' Level, as well as one or two from Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Grades at 'A' Level, two A's and a B, or, in some cases, three A's. Alternatively, a distinction in BTEC Diploma in Animal Science may be considered. After that - You will need to do a veterinary degree at a RCVS approved university. It is a 5 year course. When applying for this, evidence of your interest and commitment to the subject will be required by all university veterinarian schools. It will be expected that they have worked with and handled animals, including livestock. This is another thing to check-work experience requirements do vary between universities. You will then do general practice, and if you want to specialise, as you do, this requires more years of study.

Your best bet is to consult your schools career advisor. She (it normally is a woman) will be able to advise you on what A-Levels (I assume you are English) you will need to get into a veterinary school. Be warned however, this is a highly competitive educational path and you will be expected to have 3 A-level grade A's at the very least before being accepted onto the course. It is also a longer course (7 years I believe).

I think you should chill. Youll have your whole life to be a vet. When I was 15, 3 years ago, I had no idea what i wanted to do and i was so happy that way. Just chilled out, hung with friends, surfed and smoked weed. It is similar to what i do now haha but i replaced school with uni. Things will sort themselves out, no need to be stressing too much ahead of time. Either way doesnt seem like you need our advice, you seem pretty set

If you want to spend your life working with animals, don't let your dreams go up in smoke. See if you can get a job working with them. If you can't get a paying job (money's always nice), volunteer somewhere. You can check with veterinarians, grooming shops, kennels, stables, or the humane society. As a newbie, you'll probably start out shoveling poop, but anyone who works with animals deals with that. My daughter had similar dreams, so I suggested she volunteer at our veterinarian's. Because she was very mature for her age and calm around blood, she ended up assisting in surgery at age 13. How cool was that? Pursue your dreams dear. You won't regret it.

You need to take Biology,Chemistry and Math. In your spare time volunteer at an animal shelter or get a job at the pet store. Get yourself some credited "animal experience". Keep your GPA up in school. The better your GPA the better chance you have of getting into a University. Does your school have any clubs or courses you could take that would be animal related? If you can volunteer at an animal shelter THROUGH your school that would be better bc that will go on your transcript and look good.
