We do believe in the biblical Christ; we just don't believe all the extra stuff about him the various synods and creeds added.

OK, I've waited long enough . . . RESPONSE TO LDS APOLOGISTS: The LdS response to this question - including the FAIR (Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research (FAIR) which is an LdS Apologetics website) are fallacious. Here's why: 1) Hinckley NO WHERE IN THIS SAME ADDRESS made the claims that Mormons and LdS Apologists (like FAIR) state that he made. You will notice that the FAIR article quotes from OTHER addresses to make their case. In the internal evidence indicates clearly: FACT: He said it. FACT: He knew what he meant. FACT: He meant what he said. FACT: He made an objective statement of fact: Mormons worship another Christ relative to orthodox, mainstream Christianity. Period. Hinckley spoke the truth. Period. SAME WORDS, DIFFERENT MEANINGS: 2) The standard Mormon methodology is to use the same word but change the meaning, content, or form. Therefore, when Hinckley, FAIR, and other Mormons use the terms: "Christ", "Jesus Christ", "God's Son", etc. Those terms have completely different meanings than orthodox Christianity. They're the same words but the underlying meaning has changed. So they can produce 100, 1,000, 10,000, or a Million quotes from Gordon B. Hinckley's other addresses and the fact remains: Mormons worhip another Christ. Period. And Hinckley's quote validates this. WHY THE CREEDS MATTER: 3) In order to be considered orthodox one MUST be Theologically aligned with the creeds. Even if you said you don't believe in them this is the case. Nicene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicene_Creed) and Chalcedon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Chalcedon) are particularly important because together they form the basis for an orthodox Christology. This isn't because they DEFINE proper interpretation, rather this is because they ECHO or MIRROR what the Bible says about Jesus Christ. As Theologian James R. White has correctly stated: "When orthodox believers affirm the validity of the creed hammered out at Nicea, they are simply affirming a concise, clear presentation of scriptural truth. The authority of the Nicene creed, including its assertion of the homoousion, is not to be found in some concept of an infallible church, but in the fidelity of the creed to scriptural revelation. It speaks with the voice of the apostles because it speaks the truth as they proclaimed it." http://www.concernedchristians.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=42&func=view&catid=531&id=81159#81159 To illustrate this point let's compare and contrast: A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE: Another church that was a result of the 19th Century Restoration is today's Churches of Christ. Like the Mormons they do not "believe" or "hold" to any creeds. Q: Are their Christology unOrthodox? A: No, because their Christology is aligned with the Bible. (as well as the validating test of the creeds) So the issue here is NOT the Creeds, the issue here is the authority of scripture - as usual. Therefore, when orthodox Christians state with authority (Apostolic authority in fact) that Mormons worship "another Christ" because their Christology is NOT Biblical not because they reject the creeds. When Mormons put the emphasis on the creeds they only show their Theological and Christian Church History ignorance. It's fallacious. Pres. Hinckley is absolutely right! We do not believe in the same Jesus, as the Orthodox and Catholic Christians believe. However, we do believe in the Jesus of the Bible, the same Jesus who appeared, with his Father, to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove, in 1820. We do not so much disagree with Orthodox Christians themselves, about Jesus, but we do disagree with their interpretation of scriptures about Jesus. So many Churches today seem to think because they read the Bible, whatever they understand is the only way to interpret the scriptures. They are a product of their Ministers, in most cases. What ever the Minister tells them, what the Bible says about a certain subject, is what the Bible means. It doesn't occur to them that other Churches might read the same scriptures and understand them differently. To them it is always the other Churches that are wrong. We however, are content to Let the Lord be our judge as to who is right and who is wrong. And until then, we will continue to worship how, where, and what we may and allow them to do the same...Later

None of these fools are even in the same building as Christ.

I don't know why someone would down-rate your question, but I gave you back as many points as I could. I don't agree with President Hinkley or the L.D.S. Church about Jesus, but disagreement is no reason to take away points. Someone obviously does not understand how things work here. You have the right to your viewpoint and to express it.
