Isn't there some law that allows Police, Fire and Ambulance vehicles to speed?
The police probably WERE responding to an emergency call, but one that involved not wanting to let the bad guys know they were coming after them, hence the speed and non-siren. I've seen police cars speed by without sirens, responding to emergency situations.
The police are above the law.

You're reading What gives police the right to speed? I was on the 404 freeway going home when all of a sudden a cop car races by me at 75 mph (there wasn't even an emergency)? I mean, if I went that fast, for sure I'd be ticketed?
