  • Honestly, it makes me lock the doors on my pinto everytime I pass by. I feel the world closing in on me. Sometimes the only time I feel safe is when I sit in my closet and eat Kool-aide packets. It helps me to try and forget about the big pink elephant painted on the side of my mailbox. I got really freaked out when they stopped making strawberry falls but I am comforted by the fact that tropical punch will never go out of style. If only I could get home delivery again, I wouldn't have to go out at all but the judge said they didn't have to come by because of the "inccident." The restraining order expires in only 5 short months and if they don't persue anymore action against me, I could get em to leave it under the front door mat again...:)
  • Not really at all. The graffiti isn't a disease, it's a symptom of a disease.
  • i don't think it's easy to answer whether graffiti is art or plain vandalism. I guess for me I give 'tagging' the label of vandalism. The multi-coloured and complex artistic efforts of graffiti, I perceive as art. I think that if it wasn't for the fact that the majority is placed on private property without the owners permission then it may be more recognized as art. We have a new youth building where I live and the walls are purposefully covered in non-offensive graffiti which actually looks amazing. It is the offensive wording and the lack of respect that some people have when they spray the graffiti on private property, that is annoying. Maybe these people should invest their skills in art courses etc. rather than inappropriately colouring the streets, or spraying offensive words around. I guess if you are in a 'street culture' the tagging/graffiti has more meaning and possibly threatening for other reasons.
  • I don't think they're a threat but some of the people who do it have been known to get violent! :(
  • the untold story is it is done by small groups of girls who tag for their hood. they mark the borders of their hood. supposedly its legal to shoot them on sight when seen in the process of their artwork. however, its illegal to shoot a gun in the city. they operate quickly in the moonlight and are never seen by anyone.
  • minimal graffiti is illegal street art, not gangs marking their territory
  • I find it amusing... it makes me think things like "better watch out, these are the mean streets of the West Hills."
  • Why would you be threatened by some paint on a wall?
  • Unless its a gang, graffiti is not threatening at all. At my school every bathroom is covered from ceiling to floor with graffiti, but little of it is from gangs, just taggers/writers.
