It's my understanding that many religious organizations prohibit smoking inside their buildings. An exception would be the burning of incense during religious services and rituals. +5

I would like to thank you both for supplying answers to the question. I am also interested in smoking in general. In other words, I've noticed while driving by the Baptist Churches in my area, the congregants gather in the parking lots after and before church service and smoke there. My question is thus alo about poluting the temple in regard to our bodies which are reported in Scripture to be God's Temple aswell. Notice: (TEV)1 Corinthians 3:16. Surely you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you! 17.So if anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you yourselves are his temple. (TEV)1 Corinthians 6:19. Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God. Any feed back on this would also be appreciated.

I am an Independent Baptist and smoking is a difficult subject for me. I have been a smoker for 30 years and have quit many times. I know that I will probably pay for that one day when my health fails me,and I will be the first to admit that it will be my own fault. I am a born again Christian, saved by the grace of God NOT because I'm perfect.

Yes Im curious do Baptist's believe smoking cigarettes to be poluting the body/temple? If so, thus practicing sin? (KJV) Hebrews 10: 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. How would you harmonize the above passages? Thanks for any answers, calebnjosh

I'm sorry. But WHAT temple? The only temple to god was tore down after the Jewish uprising in Israel two thousand years ago.
