  • There is quite a bit of information in one cell, human or animal. And as the thousands of years go by more information will be added to it. Our life here on Earth is random because out of the millions of creatures that made it thus far - there were multi-millions more that didn't make it. That my friend is random. Don't get me wrong, I do believe in God. He was the one that initiated the big bang. Then he sat back (so to speak) and watched everthing mutate. When he saw that man had promise he annointed someone to let us know that he does exist and to teach us to be good to one another. When the Bible talks about how God made us in his image it doesn't mean that God is human. It is our spirit that was created equal.
  • It does to me.As David said in the book of Psalm, the heavens declare there is a God.There has to be a devine creator. The human body alone is to complex to happen by chance. Not to mention the whole universe.Yes there is a God.As Paul said there without excuse.
    • mushroom
If the human body is too complex, then so is every living thing, because DNA or RNA is common to all life on Earth, even viruses.
  • extremely. it would seem impossible to all happen by chance. but then again i don't kno facts so my opinion could be wrong.
  • Well its like a theory my huzzy had. A computer and the bianary code is of 1's and 0's... ...but then DNA is made up of even more of that... and a program is made from a program from a program...and then there was a designer of it all the human bein...but what designed the human bein which is much more intelligent then a computer (if we all used our intelligence)...cuz all the information on a computer came SOMEWHERE from the human mind...which came from SOMETHING EVEN GREATER...THE DESIGNER OF THE HUMAN...and so on. ...so to me, no your question makes sense... but I wouldnt say everyone can see it that way.
  • It does appear that more than random chance is involved.
  • God's creation of the world was a rush job. Hell, he didn't even have the time to invent the wheel, how do you figure he inveted DNA?
  • Absolutely! And I think the answer is so above us and would look so unreal that none of us would ever believe it even if the true undisputed facts were in front of us. Good question +4
  • DNA does not prove there is a creator. In fact DNA research is showing proof of recent evolution. Here is an interesting link. Human Genome Shows Proof of Recent Evolution, Survey Finds http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/03/0308_060308_evolution.html
  • I am not sure but it proves that santa is real!
  • Not absurd at all considering the amount of time it took. The idea of life evolving from chemicals doesn't disprove a god or a plan set in motion by a god. But the idea of life springing into full blown variety in a 7 day period is absurd to me.
  • To me, it does seem improbable that such an intricate system was created by chance, even if it occured over billions of years. I find it even more improbable that there is an omnipotent being somewhere with the ability to design such working biological systems, not to mention the whole question of where this creator would have come from... and unless he had a creator, then would he not have occured by a chance even less likely than that of our kind being made?
  • no it doesn't. and no, it's not absurd to think it happened by chance. you're referring to irreducible complexity, but in origins, rather than evolution, where this rationale is usually used. . unless you can actually PROVE DNA is irreducible, then, no, DNA proves nothing. if anything, every day we get closer to showing how abiogenesis is possible by studying the structure of DNA and it's "cousin", RNA.
  • You want odds? What do you think the odds that you'll actually become smarter than my dog? Zilch! My dog doesn't believe in a creator either.
  • where do you get the idea that it happened RANDOMLY? i don't know where people get that idea. all evolution happens for a reason. do you know about bacteria? they take the DNA of a cell they come into contact & add it to theirs. their DNA is a tangled mass of genes. it's not the proof of a creator, but your question is proof of ignorance that is still being spread through creationists.
  • Nope. Chance is only a part of the whole picture. It's called natural SELECTION for a reason - chance, or randomness, is what creates variations between animals (or plants). Natural selection is what favours one of those changes over others. The changes that increase the individual's ability to survive and produce offspring will be present in the next generation, while detrimental changes have a pretty good chance of causing the individual or its offspring to die early, and will eventually disappear. Over countless generations you end up with a top-notch DNA code (genome) which we can see today.
  • If there is a creator who created us who created the creator who created us?You can go on and on with that! Also the only thing that that created me that i know is the universe and nothing else till i get proof.
  • You run into a logical trap here. A creator would by definition have to be infinitely more complex than it's creator. If complexity necessitates a creator, then the greater complexity of the creator would ALSO necessitate a creator. And the creator's creator would also need a far more complex creator, which would also need an infinitely more complex creator, which would need an even more complex creator itself which would need... Well, you get the point. 'Argument from complexity' is a logically flawed argument, wherein you run into the very situation I outlined above. So, the question I could ask is, if complexity requires a creator, (i.e., god), then who created god? And who created god's creator? And so on? Nothing would exist in your scenario.
  • Evolutionists will tell you that complexity arose from sipmlicity, and that organic matter came from the inorganic. The complexity that you see in organisms like human didn't appear out of nowhere according to scientists. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis
  • If you want to learn about DNA, why not take a biology class?
  • DNA does not provide any evidence for the existence of a creator anymore than photons of light provide evidence for the existence of eyeballs, or vice versa. DNA exists, and there is no doubt about that. But the only creator that really exists is YOU and I. We can create things, no doubt. You just have to figure out who you really are first, in order to understand the idea of 'God'
  • These questions appear regularly on this and other sites. The believer pops up and says doesn't A prove there is a creator and the skeptics come back with...just how does A prove it please? The believer mutters and the skeptic asks again usually to find they have been dismissed with statements like the one above, "To the atheist, nothing will." So, here we have presumably a believer coming to a conclusion based on little more than being dazzled by complexity who presents no real evidence other than...gee that's really complicated so there must be a God while ignoring science. The difference between the believer and the skeptic is that the believer is unlikely to ever explore new ideas or to examine or changed their beliefs based on facts while the skeptic is constantly exploring new ideas, examining arguments and is typically open to changing their conclusions based on proof. Saying "Gee it's really complex" is hardly proof of anything...it is simply an observation from those who cannot be bothered to examine complex issues.
  • To Jewel: how do you know when in the bible it said 7 days it ment 7 human days. if you're going to be so specific (with your human knowledge- I'm not trying to insult- we all have a human brain ;) ) then pinpoint at the fact that it says that there was light befor the day the sun was created as well as there were plants befor sun (how can plants survive without sunlight? Maybe things just were. things weren't connected like they are now. If God just revealed himselfit would be too easy. How would he weed out his faithful followers? He does nudge in the right direction mind you. Haven't you noticed that everything we try to justify with science (dismissing religion) comes to a brick wallin which we cannot penetrate. Science can tell you how the chemicals that supposedly were the foundations for the first living organism came from. It can't tell you how exactly the brain works (at the core of it all). Allyou can say is that it just is. Science should make us smarter but not negligent
  • It provides compelling evidence of a common design for all animals and plants. DNA demonstrates that all animals and plants are related. DNA's massive size and complexity speaks to an elegant, creative, incredibly efficient design that would not take place without an intelligence behind it.
  • Here is a little bit to add to this that I think proves my point about believers. When asked what they would do if scientists were to disprove a particular religious belief, nearly two-thirds (64%) of people say they would continue to hold to what their religion teaches rather than accept the contrary scientific finding, according to the results of an October 2006 Time magazine poll.
  • When I say DNA does not proove a creator does not mean I am saying there is not an Elohim. When I say I don;t know how much information is in one human cell I am just being honest. I had read something like goes to the sun and back. Happens by chance absurd???? The foolishness of Adonai confounds the self proclaimed wise.....How can I rule out the possibility when God gambles everything works....When man plans everything fails.
  • to Jewel: There is no proof that a fish grew legs and turned into a reptile which then turn into another animal.... which turned into a monkey which turned into a human. Scientists think they have proof that the fossils they found depict what they believe to be the beginning of humankind. If somones gonna pick at religion they should equally pick at science. Ex. architects found fish fossils and they have legs. so they assumed that this was the link between fish and reptilians. Why couldn't this fossil of a fish with legs just have been another animal, that unfortunately went extinct. That's not really proof because they didn't see this transformation. Just like scientist say that God doesn't exist because we can't see him. They do the same thing. I'm not picking on you. I just wanna here what you think. I really enjoy hearing other sides of things. SO PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ANSWER.
  • I can't see where it proves a thing either way. I don't think you can geven grasp the amazing complexity of living things themselves, plant OR animal. You'd soil your pants in disbelief if you did. I'm agnostic. I think it could go either way. There is no proof one way or the other. We simply haven't found the answer. I don't think we have tha capacity to do so at this time.
  • there is the survival of the fittest theory. humans got to stay because they were smarter. there has been a tremendous surge in technical information in the last two hundred years. of course in the process the earth is suffering as is the environment. only because there are so many people. its so insane. Would a creator do this to us?
  • No, it doesn't. Yes, it would be absurd to thing a cell came about "by chance" - but the fact is cells did not come about by chance at all. The theory of evolution does not say they came about by chance - but evolved.
  • DNA proves DNA. God proves God. The philosophy of science has changed dramatically over the last 30 or so years, and now purports to be the holder of all truth, just as it attacked the Church for doing so many years ago, and lambasts others for seeking to challenge it, always on the basis of "prove it", "show me the evidence", "there is no evidence of that". Science now holds all the power, knowledge, money and influence to anyone that challenges it. If that is what truth is about, then I want to steer well clear of it.
  • No. Yes. No.
  • It would be absurd to think it happened purely by chance. But it didn't: it happened by selection - Natural Selection. Suppose you have a million dice. If you throw them just once, the chance of your getting all sixes is negligible. But suppose you throw them once, get to keep all the sixes, and throw all the other ones again. Keep the sixes from that throw, and throw the shrinking number again, and so on. It won't take you many throws - ten or so - before every dice is a six. These dice are completely fair, so every throw was pure chance. But add selection, and you get a very "unlikely" result very quickly.
  • No It doesn't. Typical Christian question... Because you can't explain something it MUST be God. What about all the hundreds of thousands of things which USED to be credited to God, which science has now explained? EG Natural phenominon.. The Northern Lights.. or Freak weather conditions ETC Evolution is a tried and tested theory. Just look at Dogs. All originated from wolves, But Dogs with preferable characteristics were choses to breed... which eventually producted different breeds of dog.. Obviously this was a much quicker process due to human intervention, But it proves one species can come about from the existance of another. Which is Evolution-in-action.
  • No, DNA does not prove a creator. If you took the bible and re-wrote it in a language consisting of only 4 letters, you could fit the entire thing into the DNA in a single human cell. To think it happened by chance is absurd yes. But what you're not calculating in, is that current DNA is like the modern computer. Totally mind blowing in complexity and scope, and not able to have been designed by chance. However, if you look back at the previous models it's relatively easy to see how the modern PC came from the 486, and the 486 from the 386, and so on down the line to the abacus, and the abacus from rocks. Now it should be significantly easier to believe in rocks being chance, than computers. And that, is the theory of DNA, that it came from something far simpler and became more complicated over billions of years.
  • No, it isn't. Frankly the idea of a 'being' doing a cosmic shake'n'bake & coming up with all this seems far more unlikely.
  • 7-28-2017 Yes. People who don't believe in God will believe anything.
  • The chance that Earth and all that's on it were formed by chance, is infinitesimally small. The last list I saw had over 200 things that needed to happen in order to support life as we know it. Everything from the basics like carbon and nitrogen in the exact quantities, to the distance from our star and larger planets in the solar system.
