  • From their jobs, from the government, from their enabler 'friends', stealing. Many alcoholics tend to drink cheap, often terrible tasting, drinks.
  • from their jobs I would imagine, it just depends on the nature of the person. I imagine a good amount of begging and mooching is encountered at some point as well.
  • Basically, from any source they can get their hands on. Wages, stealing, begging, checking the change slots on payphones & vending machines, scams etc etc
  • It is pretty naive of you to think that all alcolics are poor and have an "insatiable appetite."
  • I was friends with a terrible alcoholic. He would get a job, work a week or so then start missing work for calling in or just stop going in. There is one way he got money. He was living with a friend who usually paid the bills and the drunk would do things for the friend to work off whatever he owed. He was constantly borrowing money from everyone he knew. He would say it was for other things but everyone knew what it was for. Alcoholics don't care what they drink as long as its booze. This guy would buy $4 vodka, he hardly ate. Another guy I know actually gets his mother to buy his J.D., he's 38 yrs old. Amazing isn't it?
  • You mean those without a visible means of support? They steal or panhandle. :)
  • As the saying goes "They rob Peter to pay Paul". They take from their daily living money to get the alcohol. +5
  • The money for the booze comes of the top of the paycheck, before food and housing. When they out of cash they "borrow" from enablers. Failing that they hock anything of value around or near the house.
  • Most alcoholics have jobs.
  • Panhandling, enablers, friends and keeping a job long enough to pay for the habit. +5
  • well, the way i used to do it was to not pay bills. my money went to beer, not rent, car payments, utilities, et cetera. i've since learned to drink responsibly, thankfully.
  • From bottle/can returns if they are not employed? I'm not certain. I know a few alcoholics and they all have a job.
