Do you think the championship is catching upto the premiership due to the fact that the prem players are not under any pressure to perform?

Difficult to say. Football players are constantly under huge pressure because they are judged. Only a few footballers in the world are garunteed a starting XI place in the country/club teams. I would say the gap has become slightly closer but I believe it is becuase of the improvement of managment in the Championship - for example Phil Brown, Steve Bruce etc.
