  • Short answer: no
  • I bought one of Oprah and Bono's RED campaign t-shirts. Now I know I provided someone in Africa with AIDS medication for a month.
  • I donate to Oxfam on a monthly basis... yes, lots of their funds go towards admin. But it's still something.
  • Yes. I help fund an orphanage in Sierra Leone through a missionary friend of mine.
  • We have enough domestic problems and I think we should address those issues before we try to help others.
  • Of course. I just returned from spending $118.42 at Wal Mart.
  • I think a better question would be is the third world doing it's bit to help ME?
  • Yes I am. I send support to orphans in third world countries. I live on a very small income and I still send a percent of our income to help.
  • I sponsor a little girl in Ghana. She's 10 and is just now learning to read and write. She writes me wonderful letters and sends pictures and asks about my family. She is the sweetest child I've ever known and is so grateful for whatever I send her - even simple things like pens and notebooks. But no, I'm not doing "my bit". There is much more I could do and that most of us could do. I don't agree that we in wealthy nations should wait until all our problems are solved before we help those living in conditions people in America could only imagine. We will never be poverty free in America, but "poverty" in Africa has an entirely different meaning than poverty in the United States.
  • I have but definitely not enough
