Depends on age, when i was 16, then looks. Now that i'm 58, then personality. If i could do it all over again, then i'd think the same way.

A mix of both, preferably. But, a good personality can make up for looks. Good looks are no substitute for a bad personality.

Many people say they prefer personality to looks but in the end how many people still judge those they see by how they look. And then how about if people in a relationship and one person has an accident that affects the way they look, how would they then react to the relationship even though the person is the same on the inside. I know that many people will not stay in such a relationship, and so in the end, ask yourself.. would you stay with a person if their physical appearance changed and they were the same inside...

Initial attraction is based chiefly on appearance and a continuing relationship is built chiefly on personality.

Looks fade, personality grows so i'd pick personality, although you do have to be even mildly atrracted to the person for it to work.
