Have you ever said "How you doing?" to a stranger... then they respond with "How you doing?" (or vice versa) and you say nothing further and feel content with the conversation even though you never answered each others question?

Yes, I say that a lot, and people say that to me a lot, strangers and people I know. I never really thought much about that until now. Somehow, if its said to me, depending on how they ask it, I know whether or not they really are asking or if they mean it just as a greeting.

I sure have!! Plesentries are nice. I work in a hotel and I ask 'haow are you this morning?' about 200 times a morning, and about a third of the time all i get back is 'how are you?' Doesn't bother me any, it's just acknowledging a person and showing you care even if it's not enough to get an answer.
