Sometimes they do because Divorce is not an option. Whether they are happy and in love, now thats a different story.

We wanted to have "Arranged Marriages" for our children; but it never worked out. We still believe that in 2 out of 4 we could have done better in the selection process. But, what do parents know.

From my point of view in the US: In other countries they do. In some, the couple do fall in love and work as partners. Then again, in some other countries, women are treated as "property". While they are done here, especially with new immigrants, there's no guarantee that they will work. The US has a lot more freedoms and laws. Most women, here, have their own mind and ways to do things. And few of those would accept an arranged "marriage". And, I would be willing to bet that many marriages arranged in the US will fail, at least after some time. Now, if you're talking about Mom and Dad helping to find someone to be introduced to, and then those two figure out if they are compatible with each other, THEN that's a different story.

I think people in these type of marriages learn to work with other, but since divorce is not a option that not much they really can do but work it out. My husband I was kinda force for two reason we have known each other for such a long time that it was kinda expected and our parents was afriad that if we went ot college that I would come back pregnant. But actually love him and wanted to marry him.
