  • If you understand what you are reading, you will clearly see that Satan works for God. As usual, God takes advantage of the fact that Satan is a revolting kind of guy, and therefore is perfect for the work he has to do. Can you imagine what would have happened if Satan decided to disobey God "No God, I don't want to hurt that poor innocent guy just to prove Your point". or "You want me to tempt you own son? That's just too perverted, I'm not going to do it". or "You're saying I have to lie that sweet, innocent Eve and get her thrown out of paradise - NO, even I'm not that mean!"
  • I sounds like this story occurred before Satan's fall. But even in reading this, it's clear that Satan is up to no good. The all-knowing creator, God, knows this of course and allows Satan to play his part. The story of Job is very compelling and the Lord might have allowed this all to transpire in order to teach a lesson of faith to His people. For Job had great faith.
  • The story only really makes sense if one understands the Judaic concept of Satan, who essentially acts as God's "prosecuting attorney." The "revolt," casting out of Heaven, etc. is a Christian addition. In Judaism Satan is a divine being with a God-given and God-sanctioned purpose. He has always been God's servant.
  • AFTER the statement " From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it." is a statement that would be more correctly stated going where I want and doing what I want. it is an assanign way of talking.
