  • The criteria for choosing a career would be what really interests the chooser. Look first to what your true goals are. Money, fame, recognition, self-satisfaction, etc. Whatever it is that brings passion to your breast...that's the goal you have and the path to reach that goal can be accounting or law or medicine or ministry or psychology or whatever. But begin your search from the inside.
  • unless you worked for ENRON or GM, apparently. . sorry I could not resist. . Choice of a career should not be money based. GO for what you like doing as opposed to what might get you the cash, because when you are stuck behind a desk doing things that you have no interest in, it is not a job it is voluntary self confinement.
  • I have only talked to a handful of accountants, and maybe one in three enjoyed it. Most didn't make much money at all. I knew one who was working as a security guard a number of years ago as there wasn't much steady work. If you like that type of thing, I would use that as one of the main influences. I'm not sure how they are fairing with the current economy.
