When you come second in a competition do you blame yourself or feel jealous of the one who came first?

That's why it's better to come in third place, then you don't have to beat yourself up wondering what little thing you could have done better to win.

OMGOSH!!! If I came in 2nd I'd be jumping for joy! Usually I'm so far behind it feels like I'm first!! :D

If I'm that close, I hoping I didn't know the item. If it's a physical even, obviously, I could not make it. If I know the one who came in first, I really am happy. If I don't know the person, move on. Jealousy is foolish because there is no good in it. I've had people jealous of me, with no first, second, etc. place and I think how foolish they are if they only knew what my life has been like. It's like they are burning an eternal fire within.

No. Why on earth would I even compete, unless it was for money, if I was going to feel either one of those things afterward.

No I am perfectly happy to come in second or third..at least I placed:) And if I should happen to come in first place..everyone will hear about it:):)LOL:P

I blame myself for not being good enough. I do not feel jealous of the winner they have either put in more work or performed better than me on the day.

Neither. I feel that #1 must have worked harder than I did or I would have been #1. I don't get jealous of that. When you're 1 of 8 very intelligent children; you can't always come in 1st so you learn to be happy for #1 and be glad that you did as well as you did. Then you try to do even better the next time around so maybe you'll be #1 next time.
