Not referring to you, but I've also seen questions that were unclear to say the least, or made certain assumptions that others could not know. That's apart from d qtns dat r ritn in sms'ese.
-
I think people stopped being able to read when they came upon something they didn't like in your question and they wanted to state that. But acknowledging your ENTIRE question would hurt their arguement/case.
-
I'm pretty sure it coincided with people not being able to write & the explosion of texting.... so I'd say about 1998.
-
People who use the web can generally read. The problem is inattention, and I think it's getting worse constantly. The world is speeding up, and it seems like the demands on our attention keep getting more compelling and rapidly changing. I think there needs to be more call for people to slow down and pay attention. Given the firehose of stimulation we're all trying to drink from, there needs to be more intelligent choices made about when to allow oneself to be distracted and when to focus.
-
It's sometimes called the traffic light syndrome. They don't read the question, they scan it. They recognize one word or phrase and that's their green light to charge ahead and throw you with everythig they've got. It happens a lot in examinations as well.
-
just mop it up with some disinfectant. good question (LMAO)
-
Others often don't think to "interpret" one's questions. That's why it's best to use common terminology and simple phrasing.
-
Then sometimes if of one person misinterprets your question, others will feed off of that first wrong answer. One time I asked the question "why lower class people tend to listen to the TV loudly". I got a lot of angry responses, they misinterpreted as saying "all people who listen to the TV loudly are low class".
-
Heck! My q's dont get answers at all...lol. To answer your q, it may have more to do with mis-interpretation. People start reading & automatically form an opinion based on 3 words, and they dont feel the need to read any further....SoCIety- hurry, hurry, hurry! LOL, actually, I think I am answering your question plus another thought related to your question...=)

Is it that web is giving too much information and choice. That make people running out of quality time too. Too lazy to read everything.
-
Yes, I took guitar lessons for about a year when I was around 11 or so.
-
Probably around the same time they started denying historical fact and twisting history to support their own agenda.
-
It seemed to me that people understood your question perfectly well. Only some chose not to respond as specifically as you had requested to the first part, and then (often) not at all to the second part. I think the blanket condemnation of your respondents' reading abilities is completely unwarranted.
-
Stuck up. :)
-
do you watch Jay Leno? have you ever paid any attention to the feature called Jay Walk. It leaves me cold. it is not funny 'cause if you pay attention to the introduction of the people interviewed MOST of then have 4 year degrees. And most of them would walk away from Jeff Foxworthy's "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" empty handed.
-
Maybe some respondants did understand the full question but they gave a bad answer anyway.
-
Oh yes it is a nice day. LOL
